Machining
As a contract manufacturer specializing in CNC machining, we have focused not only on turned and milled parts but also on the production of long turned parts. Special long-bed lathes are used for this purpose.
Specializing in CNC-machined turned parts
Long turned parts are mechanically manufactured parts, usually with rotational symmetry. These are elongated, usually slender CNC-machined parts. Long turned parts are manufactured using the turning process on lathes. The manufacturing process is part of machining technology.
Long turned parts are precision turned parts and are called long turned parts because the length is considerably longer than the diameter of the long turned part. In practice, one speaks of a ratio of at least 1 to 3 of diameter to length. Here at SPALECK, your machining specialist, we refer to a part as a long-turned part when the aspect ratio is 1:10 or greater.
Our team will be happy to advise you on feasibility, cost-effective manufacturing, and specific questions regarding your turned parts. Just get in touch with us!
We offer you optimum, economical production of your long turned parts. This includes expert consultation both before and throughout the entire order process, high-quality production using the latest technology for turned and milled parts—including non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), comprehensive documentation, first-class quality assurance—including 3D measurement of components —as well as efficient and highly reliable warehousing, logistics, and delivery.

More Information
Long-turned parts are generally components of machines and assemblies. Typical applications are, for example
The high quality of production is essential for the respective application. For example, at SPALECK, we employ highly trained machinists and verify manufacturing quality using methods such as 3D measurement of components.
Manufacturing Expertise for Every Material
Different materials can be used for the production of long turned parts. Depending on the intended use, area of application and customer requirements, materials such as steel, cast iron and stainless steel, as well as copper, brass and aluminum, are machined and mechanically processed.
Special materials such as titanium are also used.
As your contract manufacturer and supplier of machined parts and CNC parts, we offer all standard materials—as well as highly specialized materials—for the CNC machining of your long-turned parts.
A distinction is made between easy-to-machine and difficult-to-machine materials. We will also be happy to advise you on the optimum material for the production of your long turned part.
Knowledge of Long-Turned Parts
There are various types of long-turned parts:
Long turned parts with simple rotationally symmetrical contours are processed by CNC lathes.
However, there are also complex turned-milled parts that are manufactured using high-end machining on high-precision turning-milling machines. The contours of such parts do not necessarily have to be rotationally symmetrical.
Efficient mechanical processing of long turned parts
Long turned parts are machined and produced by turning and milling using longitudinal turning (usually axial) and/or facing (radial turning).
During sliding headstock turning, the speed of the workpiece is adapted to the material and the sometimes complex contour of the sliding headstock turned part. The aim is to achieve very precise production quality during machining. At the same time, this prevents the workpiece from being damaged during the production process.
The production of the long turned parts is monitored by qualified cutting machine operators and the supporting technology of the CNC long turning machines. This minimizes the need for any reworking. We also rely on 3D measurement of the components for quality control. This ensures that all production tolerances are adhered to and the required quality characteristics are met.
It is also important that our project managers closely monitor the manufacturing process and maintain direct communication with you, our customer. Personal consultation and close coordination ensure that your quality requirements for the long turned part are fully met.
We manufacture long-turn parts both at our headquarters in Bocholt (North Rhine-Westphalia) and at our production facility for CNC long-turn parts in Greiz (Thuringia). We cordially invite you to visit us on-site to get a firsthand look at our large production facilities—including our metalworking operations.
Your long turned part and your requirements are at the forefront and form the basis of our contract manufacturing and contract machining.

More InformationAfter the turning process, the long turned parts can be further processed. Typical additional processing and further processing steps are, for example, surface treatment or heat treatment. Of course, additional milling is also possible. In addition, the components can be ground, gear-cut, welded, or drilled to ensure they are used to their full potential.
On a CNC vertical turning machine, the long turned parts are machined fully automatically to achieve the desired shape, meet the technical specifications, and thus produce the desired end product.
Thanks to our combination of manufacturing expertise, over 150 years of experience in mechanical engineering and contract manufacturing, and the use of state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing technology, you receive first-class, fully reproducible, and process-reliable manufacturing results.
This means that your customers can also rely on the quality of your long turned parts.
