Sustainability at the SPALECK Group

Forward thinking. since 1869.

Our stance.
Our Future

Since 1869, we have been thinking and acting today for tomorrow.
We shape the future. Every day.

We stand by our word and assume social responsibility.
For our employees, our partners, and the region.

We drive our company’s growth in harmony with nature and society. To this end, we develop and produce products that benefit people and the environment.

Sustainability at the highest level

As a recipient of the EcoVadis Gold Award, we rank among the top 5% of the world’s most sustainable companies. EcoVadis evaluates companies in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to environmental, social, and ethical responsibility. We are constantly working to make our processes sustainable and to have a positive impact on the environment and society.

Products that benefit people and the environment

Welded assemblies such as stainless steel food-grade screw conveyors. Screening machines for the international recycling industry. Precision parts manufactured to within a thousandth of a millimeter, which help drive the energy transition in wind turbines. Cutting-edge water treatment systems: We are firmly committed to sustainable products that we manufacture in an environmentally friendly manner.

Strong commitment to more equal opportunities

As co-founders of the first private vocational school in Resita, Romania, we are fighting for better living conditions and opportunities through a good education for young people.

A Shared Commitment to Nature Conservation

In spring 2021, we entered into a partnership with the NABU Borken district association. Our common goal: to encourage more environmental protection from companies. To that end, we implement nature conservation and environmental protection measures within our own company, actively involve our employees, and strive to serve as a role model for other companies.

SPALECK Apprentices as Sustainability Ambassadors

Whether it’s habitat restoration, building insect hotels, tree-planting campaigns, or clearing breeding grounds: We want to instill a sense of environmental protection and sustainability in our young people—even beyond their professional interests.

Landscaping at SPALECK

Across all SPALECK Group locations, there are approximately 17,319 square meters of naturally landscaped, green factory grounds. These include green roofs and facades, green break areas, and flower beds. In addition, our locations feature insect hotels, beehives, and birdhouses.

Creating Opportunities Through Training and Jobs

A good start in the world of work is important so that refugees can integrate in Germany. To this end, we train people and offer them career opportunities.

Working Together for Sustainable Standards

We are committed to responsible corporate governance and adhere to recognized standards: Through ÖKOPROFIT, we are continuously reducing our environmental footprint through efficient resource management. As a partner of the BLUE COMPETENCE Initiative, we also align our actions with the 12 sustainability principles for the mechanical and plant engineering industry. Since 2025, we have also been recognized as a climate protection company.

Employee Commitment to Environmental Protection

The SPALECK Sustainability Circle is a team made up of members from various departments that develops and implements ideas for greater sustainability and climate protection at SPALECK. These ideas range from expanding solar power systems to greening the site and using sustainable office supplies.

The SPALECK Health Circle

As a family-owned business, we bear responsibility not only toward the environment, but especially toward our employees. Since 2011, we have been promoting diversity within the SPALECK team through a wide range of health initiatives that go well beyond the standard.

FAQs

Here are some questions about sustainability at SPALECK. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

Sustainability is a team effort for us. In our sustainability circle, employees and trainees develop their own projects – from optimizing waste separation to nature conservation measures such as creating flowering meadows on the factory premises. We also promote regional biodiversity through long-standing partnerships, for example with the Borken district association NABU.

Our products enable the circular economy and the energy transition. Our screening machines and conveyor systems are in use worldwide to keep valuable raw materials in the recycling loop. At the same time, as a supplier, we produce high-precision components for the wind power industry. We see our engineering expertise as a catalyst for a resource-efficient industry.

We rely on external validation rather than mere promises. SPALECK is regularly assessed by EcoVadis and currently holds a Silver rating, making us one of the best companies in our industry. We have also been voluntarily publishing sustainability reports in accordance with international standards (GRI) since 2013 in order to transparently document our progress on environmental and social issues.

SPALECK is one of an exclusive group of around 72 companies in Germany that have been recognized by the Federal Ministry for the Environment for their special commitment to energy efficiency and resource conservation.

Our goal is to achieve climate-neutral production by 2030 at the latest and to consistently focus on products that benefit people and the environment.
