Excellent health promotion: the Spaleck health circle

Spaleck winner of the Bertelsmann Stiftung’s “My good example” competition

Bocholt/Berlin, March 31, 2017 – Spaleck GmbH & Co. KG has been awarded the special health prize in the nationwide “My good example” competition for its exemplary company health management. The competition was launched in 2011 by the Bertelsmann Stiftung and the Unternehmen für die Region association. It recognizes regional commitment that is of supra-regional interest and transferable to other companies.

Making a positive impact on society through creative and unbureaucratic social engagement—that’s what sets the participants in the “Mein gutes Beispiel” competition apart. During a ceremony held Thursday in Berlin, the Spaleck Health Circle received the Special Health Award for its outstanding commitment to promoting employee health. The award was presented by Liz Mohn, Vice Chair of the Bertelsmann Foundation, and former President of the Bundestag Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth.

The jury praised the Spaleck health circle as an exemplary instrument of company health management. At the same time, the laudator, Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth, emphasized the importance of active, lifelong health prevention for our society. With this in mind, Spaleck has been actively promoting the health of every single member of staff since 2011 under the motto “Your health is important to us”. The Spaleck health circle arose from the shared goal of the management and works council to promote employee health in the best possible way. The focus is on the physical, mental and social well-being of colleagues.

Employees from various areas of the company are actively involved in the Spaleck Health Circle. Together, they develop and organize activities during their working hours and offer professional services to improve everyone’s health. The involvement of professional trainers ensures the success of the program. In addition to setting up a fitness center in the company, a large number of courses are offered with qualified sports scientists and trainers: Yoga, Goshindo and Rücken Aktiv are just some of the offerings that can be used free of charge by all employees and trainees. Health days and blood donation appointments at the company, joint participation in sporting events and a bonus booklet, which encourages participation in the courses and active preventive healthcare, for example, round off the offer.

Spaleck is thus one of five winners of this year’s “My good example 2017” competition. The award was presented in five categories: small, medium-sized and larger companies, as well as in the special categories “Craft” and “Health”.

Frequently asked questions

The precise design of a tension-shaft screening machine is always tailored to the recycled material. Factors such as the composition of the input material, its moisture content, contaminants, throughput requirements, and the recycling goals associated with the input material form the basis for this. Working with you, we define screening sizes, purity requirements, and throughput rates, and use this information to configure the exact machine settings—from screening panels to amplitude and machine features such as the SPALECK FineSideCOVER (FSC) or our MultiDECK technology with a split push rod. Learn more here about our ModularDESIGN+ concept, which we use to find the optimal screening machine for your material. We’d be happy to test the respective recycling material together with you free of charge at the SPALECK TestCenter.

Precise screening of the fine fraction results in clearly defined particle sizes. For example, if the fine fraction ranging from 0 to 10 mm is reliably screened out, downstream sorting equipment—such as eddy current separators, NIR sorters, sensor sorters, and X-ray sorters—operates more reliably and efficiently as a result. In addition, the system’s cleaning requirements are reduced, and higher material purity levels can be achieved. You can see a good example of the benefits of a tensioned-shaft screen in the reference video on municipal solid waste processing at our Swedish customer Tekniska verken. The video demonstrates how a SPALECK tension-shaft screen reduces the load on the downstream eddy current sorters and NIR sorting processes. You can find all the details about the project here.

The service life of screening mats for Flip-Flow screening machines depends heavily on the recycled material, the Recycling process, and factors such as the abrasiveness of the material stream. In many recycling applications, very long service lives are possible. Thanks to our bolt-free, modular clamping system, individual screening mats can be replaced quickly and easily as needed. You can see how this works in the video on our landing page for tension-shaft screen machines. You can get a competitive quote for replacement screening mats through our spare parts service.
