Milestone in Pennsylvania

What you will learn in this article:

SPALECK USA is celebrating its 10th anniversary and opening a new 1,300-square-meter facility in Pennsylvania. Learn more about the facility’s grand opening.

On June 17, SPALECK had two reasons to celebrate in the U.S.: In Charleroi, Pennsylvania, its subsidiary SPALECK USA not only celebrated its 10th anniversary but also officially inaugurated its new, modern headquarters in the Alta Vista Business Park. The move marks a strategic step toward further growth in the North American market.

From Market Entry to a Modern Corporate Headquarters

During the grand opening ceremony, Martin Hurson, CEO of SPALECK USA, looked back on the company’s beginnings a decade ago. What began ten years ago with intensive sales efforts and the establishment of our first customer relationships right on the ground has grown into a well-established business. With the new facility, which spans approximately 1,300 square meters, a strong foundation for the future has now been laid.

As Hurson emphasized in his speech, the site expansion is not focused solely on increasing the floor space or optimizing the warehouse infrastructure. Rather, the investment represents a clear commitment to our North American customer base, to the Pennsylvania region, and to the dedicated local team, which has played a key role in our success in recent years.

“Walk of History” and Live Demonstration of Modern Screening Technology

The opening ceremony began in the morning in the presence of numerous guests, partners, and local politicians. A special focus was placed on the “Walk of History,” which introduced visitors to the milestones of SPALECK USA as well as the SPALECK Group’s more than 150-year tradition and technological development.

Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, the focus shifted to a hands-on demonstration: On the outdoor grounds, invited guests were able to witness SPALECK’s state-of-the-art screening technology in action during a live presentation and see for themselves just how effective the systems are.

Conclusion and Outlook

After the official and technical portion of “Opening Day,” the focus shifted to informal discussions. The team and the guests wrapped up the day with a group activity and dinner. The successful event underscores the strong bonds within the team and sends a positive signal for SPALECK’s continued growth in the United States.

A big thank you goes out to the entire on-site team that successfully organized this event. Here’s to many more successful years!

Frequently asked questions

The precise design of a tension-shaft screening machine is always tailored to the recycled material. Factors such as the composition of the input material, its moisture content, contaminants, throughput requirements, and the recycling goals associated with the input material form the basis for this. Working with you, we define screening sizes, purity requirements, and throughput rates, and use this information to configure the exact machine settings—from screening panels to amplitude and machine features such as the SPALECK FineSideCOVER (FSC) or our MultiDECK technology with a split push rod. Learn more here about our ModularDESIGN+ concept, which we use to find the optimal screening machine for your material. We’d be happy to test the respective recycling material together with you free of charge at the SPALECK TestCenter.

Precise screening of the fine fraction results in clearly defined particle sizes. For example, if the fine fraction ranging from 0 to 10 mm is reliably screened out, downstream sorting equipment—such as eddy current separators, NIR sorters, sensor sorters, and X-ray sorters—operates more reliably and efficiently as a result. In addition, the system’s cleaning requirements are reduced, and higher material purity levels can be achieved. You can see a good example of the benefits of a tensioned-shaft screen in the reference video on municipal solid waste processing at our Swedish customer Tekniska verken. The video demonstrates how a SPALECK tension-shaft screen reduces the load on the downstream eddy current sorters and NIR sorting processes. You can find all the details about the project here.

The service life of screening mats for Flip-Flow screening machines depends heavily on the recycled material, the Recycling process, and factors such as the abrasiveness of the material stream. In many recycling applications, very long service lives are possible. Thanks to our bolt-free, modular clamping system, individual screening mats can be replaced quickly and easily as needed. You can see how this works in the video on our landing page for tension-shaft screen machines. You can get a competitive quote for replacement screening mats through our spare parts service.
