How exactly does Europe work? What values do we share in the EU? And what do we as trainees actually have to do with this community of values and economic community?
That’s what it was all about from November 7 – 9 in Menden in the heart of the Sauerland.
Around 70 girls and boys, pupils and trainees from all over NRW, exchanged ideas at the first European Youth Parliament. Our entire team of SPALECK commercial trainees was there too!
Under the motto “Achievements and current challenges of the EU”, there was a very lively exchange. As in the European Parliament, committees were formed to identify Europe’s problems and challenges and develop proposals for solutions. The topics ranged from culture, education and social affairs to environmental policy. This was of course particularly interesting for us as trainees at the green machine manufacturer SPALECK.
After the first two intensive, debate-laden days, it was ready: our joint resolution, in which all students and trainees formulated joint statements and demands. This was then presented on the final day of the EYP in the parliamentary plenary assembly. Saturday kicked off with a large panel discussion with various guests from politics and Efficiency. This was followed by much discussion, debate and argumentation and a vote on the demands of the individual committees.
We as the SPALECK trainee team learned a lot about Europe this weekend! At the same time, we were able to see that a lot still needs to be done in many areas for a better Europe. Most importantly, we realized that it is one of OUR GENERATION’s tasks to protect, preserve and shape Europe. A successful three days that also brought our SPALECK trainee team even closer together! Therefore our clear vote: Thank you EYP, thank you Europe! We will definitely recommend you to others and are committed to you!
