There was a large crowd and happy anticipation at our SPALECK Employee Health Day today. Around 185 of our employees found out about current health issues and took advantage of presentations and hands-on activities to improve their own health. This year’s special feature: we celebrated the 7th SPALECK Health Day together with the reopening of our company fitness studio, which has grown to 230 m².
“We hit the nail on the head with this year’s topics of stress management, ergonomics in the workplace and healthy nutrition,” Gabi Mumbeck and Christiane Büdding, SPALECK employees and co-organizers of the Health Day, were pleased to report. In the hands-on presentation “Thick skin and strong nerves” by Dr. Maximilian Bunse, a doctor in the workplace health promotion department at AOK Nordwest, the employees learned how to cope better with stressful situations with simple exercises and knowledge. In two further presentations, sports scientist Susanne Steingräber gave practical tips on how to make your own work processes and workplace ergonomic and health-promoting. Other highlights included the body fat measurement and nutritional advice offered by Daniela Hoffmann from Arens’ Marien Apotheke and a 3D back analysis performed by Lukas Heidemeyer from Gesundheitszentrum Westmünsterland. The program was rounded off with healthy fruit finger food and two other hands-on activities: In the DEKRA rollover simulator, people experienced first-hand how to free themselves in a car after a rollover. And the goal wall set up by Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH was not only a well-attended activity during the breaks, but was also used to find the SPALECK goal scorer – just in time for the start of the World Cup.
Once again this year, we combined our SPALECK Health Day with a charitable donation: Our company supported the association “Engagement für Menschen und Rechte e.V.” with 1,000 euros. This association offers free medical help in Bocholt for people who have no or insufficient health insurance, e.g. due to poverty in old age or divorce. With a voluntary network of doctors and social workers, the association, which was founded in 2013, provides comprehensive care and support for people in need. This also includes covering the costs of medication and, for example, legal support in legal disputes with the authorities to reinstate statutory health insurance.
