A Look at the Manufacturing of Laser-Cut Parts

Here's How Your Laser-Cut Parts Are Made

The video shows the actual laser cutting process inside a laser cutting machine. You can clearly see the speed and precision with which the laser operates. To ensure efficiency and minimize waste for sustainability reasons, each sheet of metal is laid out in advance with the individual components. This process is known as nesting.

For you as a customer, this means efficiency in manufacturing, high-quality components, and optimal conditions for the further processing of the laser-cut parts.

For applications where component size is critical

Laser-cut parts with lengths of up to 6,000 mm are used wherever large-scale designs are required. Typical applications include components for machine frames or, for example, load-bearing structures. The advantage of XXL laser-cut parts often lies in the reduction of the number of welds. This is because a large-format laser-cut part replaces the welded joint between two smaller ones.

Efficient Post-Processing of Laser-Cut Parts

Laser cutting, bending, welding —our Contract manufacturing services are tailored to your projects. We offer all of the following processing steps for laser-cut parts and laser-cut blanks. Whether it’s precise edge bending up to 14,000 mm, welding to meet specific requirements—such as those in storefitting or the rail industry—or surface finishing and subsequent Assembly of components.

FAQs

Here you’ll find the most important questions and answers about laser-cut parts. Feel free to ask us your question via chat—we’re happy to help!

3D laser cutting is primarily used for complex, three-dimensional products, such as openings or pipe bodies.

2D Laser cutting is the optimal solution for cutting plate-shaped material. Almost all materials can be cut quickly and cost-effectively. Even small quantities can be produced economically.

The special feature of laser fineblanking is that the kerf in laser fineblanking is created by drilling individual holes in a row with minimal heating of the material. This makes it possible to cut even the most delicate parts.

Sublimation cutting is mainly used for fine cutting tasks, as the kerf remains free of oxide and burrs thanks to the cutting gases used.

The advantage of fusion cutting is that the cutting edges remain burr-free thanks to nitrogen or argon as the cutting gas. This ensures high cutting quality and precision. It is one of the laser cutting processes.

Flame cutting is a laser cutting process. In flame cutting, oxygen is used as the cutting gas to achieve a very high cutting speed. Even thick sheet metal and structural steel can be cut without any problems.

Laser cutting involves the following laser cutting processes:

  • Flame cutting
  • Melt cutting
  • Sublimation cutting
  • Laser fineblanking
  • 2D Laser cutting
